When your furnace struggles on a cold Manassas night, comfort can disappear fast. Beacon Home Services has served Northern Virginia since 2002, helping homeowners get dependable heat with honest recommendations, clear explanations, and licensed workmanship.

Our furnace service covers the problems homeowners actually deal with, including uneven rooms, rising heating bills, strange burner smells, noisy startup, and systems that quit when temperatures drop. We work on common gas and electric furnace systems, inspect the heat exchanger, igniter, blower motor, thermostat, filter, flame sensor, and airflow, then recommend the right next step.

If you need a repair, a full replacement, or guidance on improving system performance, we can help. Beacon also handles heating services, system improvements through HVAC upgrades and retrofits, and control issues involving home thermostats.

Schedule same-day service and get your furnace checked before a minor issue turns into a no-heat emergency.

Signs You May Need Furnace Repair or Replacement

In Northern Virginia, we see heavy furnace use during cold snaps, plus wear caused by aging equipment in older homes around Manassas and nearby communities. That mix often leads to ignition failures, dirty burners, cracked blower belts, weak airflow, tripped safety controls, or thermostats that no longer read temperatures accurately.

  • No Heat Diagnosis: If the furnace will not turn on or blows cool air, the issue may be the igniter, gas valve, flame sensor, control board, or thermostat wiring.

  • Airflow Restoration: Weak airflow often comes from clogged filters, blower motor problems, dirty evaporator coils, or restrictive ductwork that makes the system run longer.

  • Safer Operation Checks: Gas furnaces need careful inspection for burner issues, venting problems, and heat exchanger damage that can affect safety.

  • Efficiency Improvements: Proper adjustment, cleaning, and testing can reduce wasted energy, shorten run times, and help your home heat more evenly.

  • Replacement Planning: If your system is aging or repair costs keep stacking up, we can size and install a new furnace that fits your home’s layout and heating demand.

Some furnace issues are easy to spot, while others show up as subtle changes in comfort or utility costs. If the unit starts and stops too often, makes banging or scraping sounds, or leaves second-floor rooms colder than the rest of the house, that usually points to a mechanical or airflow problem that needs professional testing.

Furnace Installation

Furnace installation and replacement starts with sizing, because a unit that’s too large or too small creates comfort and efficiency problems. We look at square footage, insulation, duct condition, airflow, fuel type, and thermostat performance before recommending equipment, and if your heating setup needs broader changes, we may suggest HVAC upgrades and retrofits to improve the whole system.

There are also clear signs that you may need a new furnace instead of another repair. Frequent breakdowns, uneven heating, a cracked heat exchanger, rising energy bills, or a system near the end of its expected service life often make replacement the smarter long-term choice, and in some homes a switch to heat pump technology may also be worth discussing.

Furnace Repair

Furnace repair begins with inspection and diagnosis, not guesswork. We test electrical components, safety switches, ignition sequence, temperature rise, blower performance, and venting so you understand what failed and why, which is the same practical approach we bring to heating repair across the region.

Homeowners often ask what furnace repair costs and how long it takes. Pricing depends on the part that failed, the age and condition of the furnace, accessibility, and whether the repair reveals larger issues like airflow restrictions or control board damage, while many repairs can be completed the same day and replacements typically take longer because installation, testing, and setup all matter.

DIY furnace care is limited to safe basics like changing the filter and checking thermostat settings. If you smell gas, notice soot, hear loud metal noises, or the system repeatedly trips breakers, shut it down and call for professional service, because those symptoms can point to combustion, venting, or electrical faults.

About Beacon Home Services

Warm competent friendly. I needed a plumber for my new vanity and sink. They attached the pipe and made sure the vanity was stable. Additionally the technician took time to clean the area when the job was completed. This kind and quality of service is rare. I would use this service again.and again.

Rebecca was very responsive to our request for an estimate to upgrade our panel. She scheduled Mr. Friday, an experienced electrician who had previously wired up our 220v kiln in the garage. Had a great consultation with Mr. Friday who thoroughly explained panel technical details. After discussing what we had been thinking with Mr. Friday, he determined we did not need to upgrade our panel and the work we are contemplating can be supported with our current panel with plenty of circuits to spare. He was very thoughtful and patiently explained electrical requirements to us in a manner we could understand. It was great talk with this professional and we will definitely be calling Beacon for any future electrical requirements. A great team to work with.

Update /8/28/2026
Called Beacon again to install and hardwire low voltage under shelf lighting that came with floating shelves we were installing. Spoke with Rebecca again and she was friendly and helpful as always, really very easy to work with - funny and cheerful. She arranged for Bryce to come out the same day. Bryce was professional and well spoken. We discussed the work and he had great ideas to improve the installation that I had been thinking about. We agreed on the work, he provided an estimate and once I agreed he got right to work. He set up the work area, laid out protective measures and worked diligently to accomplish the work. It was a pleasure to work with him. In summary, another outstanding Beacon experience - all accomplished on the day I called.

I’ll be coming to Beacon again. Great service and people.

I just had a GREAT experience with Beacon. Maurice G and Devin E came out to quote me on a lot of electrical work, including a new panel and charging port. They genuinely felt like trustworthy guys, so we initiated about 4 days of work. I couldn't be happier with the level of detail and service the guys provided. Please, if you need work done, consider Beacon and more importantly, ask for Maurice and Devin. The panel itself looks like a work of art!

Update 8/26/26
Just added a Halo filtration system along with a reverse osmosis faucet to my house. John Katsiotis did the consulting, selling and the installation. I couldn’t be happier with the level of service and care. I think a lot of us are worried about our water right now and I’m feeling very comfortable knowing I had these installed. John K is so knowledgeable when it comes to water so please, take his advice.

Zak is incredibly professional and the best plumbing technician we gave dealt with and we have tried so many through the years. Mary was incredibly professional and an excellent communicator making sure everything was arranged and we always knew the status. We required services more than one day and everything was handled well and cleaned up spotlessly. Zak is intelligent, thorough and explains everything well.

Best plumbing service and believe me we have tried many. Highly recommend. In fact I have not done reviews of others as they were not at this level.
