If your home needs heating and cooling service, plumbing repair, or electrical work in Dumfries, schedule same-day service today.

Heating & Cooling Services

Dumfries summers put real strain on air conditioners, especially during long humid stretches when systems run for hours without much of a break. In winter, cold snaps can expose weak heat pumps, aging thermostats, and airflow problems that make some rooms feel fine while others stay chilly.

Homeowners often ask what makes Heating & Air service vary from one house to another. In Dumfries, the biggest factors are system age, filter condition, duct layout, and whether the home is an older colonial, a ranch, or a newer two-story with added cooling demand upstairs. If your AC keeps running but the house still feels sticky, or your heat starts and stops too often, it is usually time to have it checked instead of guessing.

  • AC repair: Help for systems that are blowing warm air, freezing up, or struggling to keep up on hot afternoons.

  • Heating repair: Service for furnaces and heat pumps that will not start, make odd noises, or leave cold spots around the house.

  • AC replacement: A good option when frequent repairs and rising utility use point to an aging unit that is near the end of its life.

  • Seasonal maintenance: Tune-ups before summer and winter can catch wear early and help equipment run more steadily.

  • Thermostat and airflow issues: Useful when one floor feels warmer than the other or the system cycles on and off too often.

Plumbing Services

Plumbing problems in Dumfries often come back to hard water, aging pipes, and heavy seasonal water use. In older homes, mineral buildup can shorten the life of water heaters and slow fixtures down over time, while winter freezes can put hose bibs, exposed lines, and crawl space plumbing at risk.

A lot of homeowners want to know if a plumbing issue is something they can handle on their own. A plunger or a basic check under the sink may be enough for a small problem, but recurring clogs, no hot water, low pressure in multiple fixtures, or damp spots that keep coming back usually point to a larger issue. Those calls can take longer when the problem is hidden behind walls or under a slab, which is why early service matters.

  • Leak repair: Help for frozen pipe drips, ceiling stains, wet cabinets, and other signs that water is getting where it should not.

  • Drain cleaning: Professional clearing for slow sinks, tub backups, and recurring clogs that keep returning after store-bought products.

  • Water heater service: Repair or replacement for units that produce rusty water, run out too fast, or make rumbling sounds.

  • Toilet and fixture repairs: Fixes for running toilets, weak flushing, dripping faucets, and worn shutoff valves.

  • Pipe and shutoff work: Useful when older plumbing materials, freeze damage, or poor pressure create ongoing trouble.

Electrical Services

Electrical issues in Dumfries range from nuisance outlet problems to bigger concerns involving older panels and storm-related power events. Summer humidity, heavy AC demand, and winter outages can all expose weak connections, overloaded circuits, and outdoor GFCI problems around garages, patios, and exterior walls.

Homeowners also ask when electrical work should move from a small fix to a larger upgrade. If breakers trip often, lights dim when major appliances start, or you still have an older panel brand in place, a repair may not be the whole answer. In some homes, the safer long-term move is upgrading the panel or adding dedicated circuits for today’s electrical load.

  • Panel repairs and upgrades: Support for outdated panels, limited capacity, and circuits that cannot keep up with modern use.

  • Outlet and switch repair: Service for dead outlets, warm switches, sparking, or GFCI outlets that will not reset.

  • Lighting installation: Indoor and outdoor lighting updates that improve visibility, convenience, and safety.

  • Wiring repairs: Help when flickering lights, burning smells, or renovation plans point to hidden electrical trouble.

  • Generator and surge protection work: Smart options for homes affected by storms, outages, and voltage swings.

About Beacon Home Services

Exceptional experience with Mary doing the coordination and John doing the hands on review and recommendation. Mary kept me clearly informed on John’s progress and ETA. John was amazingly knowledgeable, frank and clear. He prioritized my needs over maximizing revenue. That is refreshing and much appreciated. I will be doing more business with Beacon in the future.

We had an excellent experience with Beacon Home Services from start to finish.

Rebecca was my point of contact and did a fantastic job keeping us informed throughout the day. We were originally given an 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. arrival window, but instead of leaving us wondering when someone might show up, Rebecca and the team kept us updated by text and let us know when Gabriel was on his way. I really appreciated that level of communication and consideration for our time.

Gabriel, the electrician who came to our home, was absolutely fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, friendly, and never once made us feel pressured. He took the time to answer all of our questions and carefully explained the different proposals and options so we completely understood what was being recommended and why.

I came away from the visit with a very high degree of confidence in Gabriel, both as an electrician and as someone representing Beacon. He made sure we had all the information we needed to make an informed decision without any high-pressure sales approach.

Between Rebecca’s excellent communication and Gabriel’s knowledge, professionalism, and customer service, we were extremely happy with the entire experience.

Excellent communication, excellent service, and a very positive experience. I would highly recommend Gabriel, Rebecca, and Beacon Home Services.

Week of 9/7/2026 Beacon came out because my HVAC took a poop after a few recent power outages and surges (blower blew and a leak somewhere in the AC). Xavier Ramirez (Angel and Sean) came out and provided a replacement. Walked me through what was needed (great professionalism), had me check how things as they progressed (courtesy) and when finished walked me through again what they did, paperwork understanding, warranties, etc (customer service). While here I asked Xavier does Beacon do Sump Pumps and Water heaters. He smiled, Sean was there so he looked it over and let mgmt know (via pics) the mess that I had for a sump pump. Excellent work by Mary contacting me (customer service, professional) setting dates, etc. 5 stars for the entire team for that project.

Water heater and Sump pump included Mike, Sean, Kenny and another tech (sorry can't remember his name). All again walked me through what was going to transpire (great professionalism), kept me in the loop as they progressed (courtesy) and walked me through the process, where things were, what NOT TO TOUCH, paperwork, warranties, etc. (customer service) Again excellent work this time by Katie getting in touch with me, dates, discussions. 5 stars for this team!

Dustin came in to prep the sump pump work by running new electrical lines, and configurations. He too walked me through the process, showed updated breaker IDs in breaker box, lines ran inside wall without issue, new electrical outlets in the sump pump room, paperwork, warranties, etc. Beginning to end of project - great customer service, professionalism and courtesy. 5 star work!

Shout out to Tiffany, who reached out to me at the beginning when I was out of town for scheduling. Great customer service, and professionalism on the front lines.

Great experience from start to finish! Scheduling online was easy, and I was able to get an appointment within 24 hours. Communication was excellent—they provided a narrowed arrival window and contacted me 30–45 minutes before arriving. The technician was professional, explained everything clearly, provided a quote upfront, and completed the repair promptly. I would definitely recommend them!

I had an easy job that I didn't want to do myself. Replace 2 cutoff valves. I knew what the cost of materials was and I knew what I was willing to pay in order to be lazy. The first company I got a quote from was $1200. When John, from Beacon, arrrived, he initially quoted me for ~$800 (33%) cheaper than the first company. After a brief conversation and an offer of $500 for the job, he accepted. He didn't have to do the "used car salesman" charade of calling the front office, he just agreed that it's a $500 job and he'll do it for $500. In a rural area, this would've been a $200 job but, I understand the cost of living in suburbia. I appreciate when a company employs comptetent and knowledgeable technicans who are able to go out and do work without calling the manager. Speaking of "knowledgeable", John shared way more knowledge with me than any other home service technician ever has. Some of it may have been salesmanship but, nonetheless, he shared much knowledge and demonstrated that he's over qualified for the job he's performing. Thank you, John. Thank you, Beacon. And, Mary was the associate who coordinated everything within about a 2 hour timeframe even though it wasn’t an emergency. Never forget the people behind the technician.
