Preparing Your Outdoor Space For Warm Weather

Spring is officially here! This year it’s especially important to enjoy the peace and quiet your own backyard can lend. Hopefully, that means more time in the sun. As spring turns to summer, and the COVID-19 outbreak begins to slow, we’ll be able to spend more time in the pool and more time enjoying the outdoors. However, that’s not as simple as it sounds. With only a few months before the warm weather really kicks in, there is some important prep work that still needs to be done.

Pools and Hot tubs

Make sure your system is in good working order to maximize your time spent having summer fun! So, prior to the summer season, check all aspects of your electrical system, including your pool lights. For safety’s sake, make sure to have any electrical work completed before you jump in for your first swim! And, if you want to update your outdoor lighting while you’re at it, contact Beacon Services. We will make sure your electrical upgrades uphold high electrical standards.

Main Panel and Breaker

Maintain clear access and proper lighting in front of your main panel. Keeping a flashlight nearby is always a good idea! Additionally, make sure you understand how to find a “tripped” breaker.

Here’s what you do if you do find a tripped breaker:

First, turn off all switches and unplug all of your items that lost power. Then, reset the “tripped” breaker by switching it to the “off” position, and then back to the “on” position.

In case there are electrical issues and you don’t feel safe attempting this when the rest of your electricity is still live, know where your main electrical breaker is. If you don’t have a main electrical breaker, we recommend installing a new panel with a main shutoff. This allows you to turn the power off to your whole house. If you want to update your electrical panel or require professional service, contact the skilled technicians here at Beacon Services.
